National Lampoon Being Sued For 'Pucked'

A North Carolina film company is suing National Lampoon for allegedly mishandling the media promotion for the movie "Pucked."

The lawsuit, filed last week by American Cinema Distribution of Greensboro in Gifford County Superior Court, alleges the California-based media company did not adequately promote or distribute its film comedy, the Greensboro (N.C.) News & Record said Friday. 

The movie, starring singer Jon Bon Jovi, ultimately was only released in three cities nationwide and has yet to be listed by Media by Numbers, an organization that monitors box office receipts in the United States.

Altogether, the lawsuit alleges National Lampoon's actions led to a "loss in sales revenues, loss of industry prestige, extended overhead and auditing expenses, and additional general and administrative expenses."
