(AP) CHEYENNE, Wyo. Bon Jovi will perform at this summer's Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Bon Jovi will perform July 20, which is the first night act at the 10 day Western celebration and rodeo.

Bon Jovi recently topped the U.S. country music charts with "Who Says You Can't Go Home," a duet lead singer Jon Bon Jovi performs with Jennifer Nettles. The song won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocal.

In addition to Bon Jovi, rock band Def Leppard will also perform at Frontier Days on July 28.

The rest of the Frontier Nights concert series features Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Gretchen Wilson and Los Lonely Boys.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Bon Jovi, which has recently delved into the country genre, will perform at this summer’s Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Bon Jovi will perform July 20, the first night act at the 10-day Western celebration and rodeo, also known as the Daddy of ’em All.

Bon Jovi recently topped the U.S. country music charts with “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” a duet lead singer Jon Bon Jovi performs with Jennifer Nettles. The song won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocal.

“We’re very excited,” CFD contract arts chairman Joe Lopez said. “When we first addressed Bon Jovi, he said he wasn’t going to tour.”

In addition to Bon Jovi, Lopez announced Friday that rock band Def Leppard will also perform at Frontier Days on July 28.

This year’s Frontier Days concert lineup introduces more rock music to a traditionally Western event, but Lopez said that is good business.

Today’s country artists perform throughout the Front Range, including in metro areas like Denver, so their drawing power is lessened, he said.

Musicians like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard could attract more out-of-state visitors to the Cheyenne rodeo, Lopez said.

“The request has always been there to mix it up,” he said. “I think down the road we’re going to see some different enter-tainers come to Cheyenne Frontier Days.”

Bon Jovi has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. The band also has performed for more than 32 million people in 50 countries.

Def Leppard has launched sold-out tours across the country and has sold more than 65 million albums worldwide. The band’s most recent and 12th studio release, “Yeah!” debuted in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart.
